9 Days/8 Nights  “Mountain and Bush”

Game drive in the wild and beautiful Samburu Game Reserve, then climb Mt Kenya using the scenic combination of Sirimon and Chogoria routes.

Day 1 Nairobi – Nanyuki - Samburu

Head North from Nairobi to the town of Nanyuki then on to Samburu Game Reserve in time for a short afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight camping inside the reserve.

Day 2 Samburu - Early morning game drive, then back to camp for breakfast and a rest in the camp during the heat of the day. After lunch, afternoon game drive until 1830 and back to camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Samburu - Nanyuki -Early Morning game drive before breakfast. Further game drive, then proceed to Nanyuki after Lunch for an overnight in local hotel, as you you prepare for the mountain trek.

Day 4 Leave Nanyuki after breakfast and proceed to Sirimon Gate where fees are paid and trekkers are registered. Accompanied by a guide and porters, trek 3-4 hours through equatorial forest and heathland to Old Moses Camp, (3200 metres). Dinner and overnight in the bunkhouse. (L,D)  

Day 5 Old Moses Camp – Exprore Liki valley (4240m)
Depart Old Moses hut after breakfast for high altidude of the Liki North Valley standing at 4000 Metres,descend back to Old Moses hut for an overnight at a lower altidude, which helps you to get well acclimatised.

Day 6 Old Moses - Shipton’s Camp-

Start the trek after brekfast to the Shiptons hut.The trek takes you through the Ontilili valley, Liki North valley hence to the Mackinders valley for a spectacular view of the peaks, as you take your picnic lunch.Proceed to Shiptons hut, arriving late afternoon for dinner and overnight.

Day 7Shiptons - Explore the the western terminal

After Breakfast explore the western terminal via the Kami hut. Descend to the Hausberg valley.Hike through the Arthurs seat,then to the two turn hut.Trail back to the Shiptons hut after dinner for an early night, as you kick off for Lenana.

Day 8-Shiptons -Point Lenana (4985m) - Minto’s Hut (4300m) - Chogoria Bandas. An early start for the final climb to Pt Lenana, arriving in time for sunrise. On a clear day the views from here are superb and quite often Kilimanjaro can be seen in the distance. Descend to Minto’s Hut for breakfast, followed by further descent through the beautiful Georges Valley to the Meru Mt Kenya Bandas for dinner and overnight stay.(note this a long day but worth it,average 8 hours walk)

Day 9  Chogoria – Nairobi
After breakfast, a leisurely descent through tropical forest and bamboo to Chogoria township for your return transfer to Nairobi.

COST: 590 Euro per person based on a minimum of 3 passengers, or 665 Euro per person as a private safari for 2.
