WILDLIFE
SAFARIS
7
Days/6 Nights "Bush & Beach"
A 7 day
safari allowing you to view the wildlife in 3 of Kenya's top reserves…
Maasai Mara, Amboseli, Tsavo… before relaxing on the beaches of
Mombasa.
Day 1 Nairobi
- Maasai Mara
Morning departure from Nairobi, descending the escarpment and driving
along the floor of the Great Rift Valley to the Maasai town of Narok.
After a stop for refreshments, proceed to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve
with game viewing enroute to the overnight camp.
Day 2 Maasai
Mara Game Reserve
Full day game viewing with picnic lunch. One of Kenya's premier
reserves, the Maasai Mara is an extension of the Serengeti and world
famous for the spectacular migration of thousands of wildebeest
and zebra during the months of July and October. The Mara is also
rich in resident game with over 95 species recorded. These include
the "Big Five" - elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and rhino - as
well as giraffe, hippo, cheetah, hyena, hippo and numerous antelope.
The Reserve is also rich in birdlife with over 480 species recorded
in recent times. Return to camp for dinner.
Day 3 Maasai
Mara - Nairobi - Amboseli
After breakfast, depart for Nairobi via Narok. After lunch at a
local restaurant we continue to Amboseli National Park, located
on the Kenya/Tanzania border. Gamedrive to one of the public campsites
for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4 Amboseli
National Park
The day is spent game viewing in the Park. Dinner and overnight
at the campsite. Amboseli National Park covers an area of around
400 square kilometres and is bounded to the south by Kilimanjaro,
Africa's highest mountain. Its snow-capped summit dominates the
landscape and provides a superb backdrop for wildlife photographers.
Amboseli's swamps, plains, woodlands and bush country support a
diversity of wildlife unrivalled in East Africa for a park of its
size. Over 80 different mammals may be found in the park, including
the Gerenuk and the Fringe-eared Oryx. The swamps and lakes are
rich in resident and migrant birds with over 400 species recorded.
Day 5 Amboseli
- Tsavo West
We leave after breakfast and travel via Chyulu Hills to Tsavo West
National Park, arriving in time for lunch. The afternoon is spent
game viewing, and if time permits, a visit to Mzima Springs. Dinner
and overnight at a local campsite. The combined area of Tsavo East
and West makes this one of the largest game sanctuaries in the world,
covering approximately 20,000 square kilometres. Tsavo became Kenya's
second national park in 1948 and offers a wide variety of game viewing
opportunities. Apart from a large elephant population, other resident
game includes lion, cheetah, hyena, leopard, hippo, gazelle, giraffe,
crocodiles, and an incredible display of birdlife.
Day 6 Tsavo
West - Tsavo East
In the morning we cross into Tsavo East for lunch and an afternoon
of game viewing. Tsavo East is larger and more arid than Tsavo West
and is less visited. Only a small area of this vast reserve is open
to the public while the remainder provides a remote animal wilderness.
Two main attractions in this park include the Yatta Plateau, one
of the world's longest lava flows, and Lugard Falls, a long stretch
of rippling white water cataracts. Dinner and overnight at a campsite.
Day 7 Tsavo
East - Mombasa
After breakfast we game drive out of the park and proceed to the
coastal city of Mombasa where the tour ends.
